It’s that time of year again where in the southern city of Spain, Seville joins together in one of the biggest celebrations in the world. Every April since 1846 when Narciso Bonaplata and José María signed a proposition asking for authorization to celebrate and annual fair, millions of tourist flock the city of Sevilla to join in the fun. It all starts with the “Alumbrado” which this year fell on April 8th and continues for an entire week of full on street party style.
Although, this year La Feria de Sevilla has seen some rain that has not stopped the Spaniards and all the tourists from dancing Sevillanas, eating tapas, drinking wine and having the best time of their life.. This is one of those things everyone must do at least once in their lives.
Start planning your trip for next year…

The Spanish Government has been serious about their train building and so far have been impressing the world. Their AVE trains that travel up to 300km/h (185mph), can take passengers from Madrid to Barcelona in about 2 and half hours, Madrid to Malaga in 2 hours and 30 minutes and Madrid to Valladolid in 55 minutes (old route took about 3 hours).
This new train system has many goals for the future by 2010 Spain may have the most extensive high-speed rail network in the world. The government expects as many as six million passengers to travel with the AVE this year. And why not,? Prices are anywhere from €40 to €164, you have the ability to use your mobile phone and charge your laptop computer. This in comparison to the airport security check in waits, make this an excellent choice for many business men.
Tourists now can also travel through Spain in comfort and speed, being able to spend more time enjoying Spain and its treasures.

Marbella the perfect city for you to bask in the sun is a city in the Andalusia region in Spain. Located in the province of Malaga this Mediterranean beauty is the perfect beach town resort. Part of La Costa del Sol it is a haven for the wealthy and famous, where many of them own homes (mansions by the seas).
Marbella is known for its weather and beaches, having 320 days of sunshine a year. Marbella is also one of the ultimate destinations for golf with approximately 25 golf courses in the surrounding areas. There are plenty of beach front and luxury hotels to choose from.
Marbella is a city you must visit when you are in the mood for some sun and some fun.

One of the most beautiful parks in the world has to be the Retiro in Madrid. Located behind the Prado museum, this 350 acre open space has something for everyone. rebuilt by King Philip IV in the 1600’s it was opened to the public in the 1800’s.
The park holds many different monuments, statues and fountains such as one that is called ‘Angel Caido’ (fallen angel), where at the top we could see a a sculpture which is said to be the only statue in the world dedicated to a fallen angel representation of Lucifer. There is also a crystal palace (glass pavillion) which sometimes holds special events.
There is a large artificial pond in which you can rent a little row boat and relax while you admire your surroundings. On the weekends there are many activities for the kids such as puppert shows, arts and crafts, musical theater and so on. There many little “terrazas” (open bars) where you can enjoy a nice coffee or a cold beer. There are also playgrounds all through the park, bicicle and skate trails, and many benches where you could sit aroung and comtemplate the beauty around you.
This park is for the old and young alike. I had the privilege of living right across the street from it as a little girl and to me the Retiro is a just a huge playground.

Many people want to come to Spain but don’t really have a clue what cities to visit first and since there is a lot to see, unless you have a couple of months vacation to tour around this beautiful country, you really need to decide what region to visit first.
The north, the south, the Mediterranean? What is it going to be? You first have to figure out what type of vacation you want. Do you want to relax in the beach? Visit the best museums and monuments? Get away from it all in a secluded little town? Do you want to party all night long? Do you want a nature trip? Do you want to shop your heart out?
Spain has a lot to offer and deciding what you want to do is the first step.
I suggest Marbella, Alicante, Malaga for the Beach getaway of your life. Museums and monuments your best bet are Madrid and Barcelona, Get away in a small town, the north of Spain such as Asturias and Galicia have many small towns that will hide you away, or partying all night long is your thing, then Ibiza baby..although Madrid and Barcelona are not far behind, Shopping, it has to be Barcelona…and if you want carnivals and deep Spanish roots the Andalusia region is your best bet.
There are many different online travel guides that help you get all the information you need about every particular region, where you will be able to investigate and figure out what is the ideal place for you.
